Obituary for Kenneth Dale Miller

Kenneth Dale Miller was born on February 10, 1950 to William and Esther Miller in Lewistown.  He passed away on April 26, 2019 of natural causes.

Ken grew up in Lewistown, attending grade school and later Fergus County High School.  He was employed at the Joe Wicks Ranch during his early years.  In 1969, he married Nannette Myers and four months later was drafted into the U.S. Army Infantry Division and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany.  Shortly after completing his tour of duty he joined the Operating Engineers Local 400 and operated heavy machinery until he joined the Laborers Local 98 in 1985, where he remained until he retired.

Ken was an avid hunter.  The Miller household was a well-oiled machine during hunting season with dead things hanging in the garage and the kitchen transformed into a butcher shop and smoker.  His sons will remember those days as a mixture of wonderful adventure and chaos.  Summers were fishing expeditions.  He knew the location of every fishing hole in Fergus County and loved fly fishing in Spring Creek.

Early in life, Ken developed an appreciation of work ethic.  He was always early for work and stayed late, never complaining about long hours and lost weekends and was always willing to lend a helping hand to a family member, friend or stranger.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marcella; and brothers, Melvin Zwolle, John Zwolle and Donald Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracey Ann; sons, Scott Edward, Christopher Boyd and Troy Andrew; sisters, Marjorie Miller and Linda Berry; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; uncle, Duane Turner; sister-in-law, Cheryl Zwolle; half-sisters, Billy Miller and Joyce Hawley; and loved by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., May 11, 2019 at the Creel Funeral Home Chapel.  Inurnment will be at the Central Montana Memorial Gardens with Military Honors presented by Fergus American Legion Post #16.  Following the committal service, a gathering will take place at the Montana Tavern.  Memorials in Ken’s honor may are requested to the Fergus American Legion Post #16.
