Obituary for Werner Lee Brandt

Werner Lee Brandt, age 83, of Lewistown, Montana, passed away on September 18th, 2018.

Lee was born in Boise City, Oklahoma to Heinrich Wilhelm Brandt and Frieda Ida Bertha Brieske on March 31, 1935. Heinrich and Frieda emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1913. Lee was the youngest of three children (Brother Gunther and Sister Charlotte).

His family homesteaded in Cimarron County, Oklahoma and farmed west of Boise City. Lee left home at the age of 17 to work on a High-Line crew in Texas. Later he was hired on to a seismograph crew for Tower Exploration.

Lee and Jacqueline Marie Mackey were married on December 24, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico. While working for Tower Exploration, they moved to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and finally to Lewistown, Montana. Jackie and Lee fell in love with Lewistown and decided it was where they wanted to stay and raise a family.

Lee went to work for Pacific Hide and Fur in 1959 and nine months later he was promoted to Branch Manager. After 40 years of successfully running Pacific, he retired in 1999.

Lee was also very passionate about the time he dedicated to the Lewistown Fire Department. He joined the fire department in 1966 as a part-paid volunteer. He served the community of Lewistown as a fireman for 32 years and retired at the rank of Captain.

Lee loved his family, his church, the mountains and Montana. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, treasure hunting with his metal detector, four-wheeling in the Little Belt Mountains, exploring and hot potting in Yellowstone Park, and vacationing in Swan Lake, MT.

He took great pride in his work at Pacific and the fire department and instilled his strong work ethic into his children.

Lee had many talents and hobbies. He was a talented painter and a skilled craftsman. He enjoyed carving belt buckles out of elk burrs, collecting rocks, and gardening. His family will attest that there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother.

Lee is survived by his wife, Jackie; children: Jeffrey Lee and his wife, Jonna, David Allen and his wife, Shara, and Tina Marie Webb and her husband, Steve. He has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, in Lewistown, Montana where friends and family may attend a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Central Montana Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to Central Montana Hospice.

Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home. Lee’s family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.creelfuneralhome.com
