Obituary for Thomas Eugene Brown

Thomas Eugene Brown, born 10 June, 1937 to Francis Elsworth and Elsie Taylor (Conard) Brown in Lewistown, Montana, passed from this life on 3 May, 2020. 

He graduated from Fergus High in 1957. Tom joined the National Guard while still in high school to avoid being drafted before he graduated. Graduating was important to him. While in high school he worked for Brown Plumbing and Heating. He was a talented sheet metal worker. As an example that, he made a cowboy hat, a pontoon boat, and a sleigh from sheet metal. 

Tom became a Master Machinist/Welder. He worked for Fabian’s Machine and Welding, moved to Seattle and worked for Boeing for two years, moving to Wyoming he worked for Utah International and Mullion Mining as a welder/mechanic in the uranium mines. He belonged to the Intermountain Ironworkers Union, Twin Cities Union, and WyDak Steel. 

Tom was a spiritual man and would hold church services and bible studies at his home. Tom also loved to dance.  

Tom is survived by daughters, Tammy (Tracy) Inman, and Patty (Jerry) Brogdon; son, Tim Brown; sisters, Elsie Jean (Earl) Shammel, and Clara Arlene Cripps; step-son, David (Kim) Dickinson, Collin and Elisa; grandchildren, Taylor Inman and Courtney Brogdon Smith; and great-granddaughter, Alora Smith; Graces’ children, Douglas (Annette) Goehring, Stacy (Tammy) Goehring, and Angela (Michael) Vincent; grandchildren, Kacie, Dustin, Clinton, Zachery, Tyler, Savanna, Vanessa, Cody and Lane; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Brody, Allie, Wyatt, Marley and Garrett; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Grace Funston; son, Tyrey Brown; his parents; brother, Richard B. Brown; sister-in-law, Linda (Skagen) Brown; brother-in-law, Kenneth Cripps; and grandson, Shawn Brogdon. 

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, cremation has taken place. Donations in honor of Tom can be made to the Grass Range School or to the Grass Range Volunteer Fire Department.
