Obituary for Paul Joseph Cerovski

Paul Joseph Cerovski, 89, passed peacefully on January 2nd with his family by his side after facing a courageous battle with cancer.

Dad was born in Lewistown on April 28, 1929 to George and Victoria Cerovski. He was the youngest of five children. He attended school at Brooks and Lewistown and graduated from Fergus High School in 1946. After high school, he drove truck for Gamble Robinson before being drafted into the Air Force in 1951. He served in the Korean War as an airplane mechanic.

After returning home, he met his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Winkler. They were married in February of 1957 and made their home on the family ranch near Danvers. Together, they raised three boys, Mark, Gary and Doran, while working the family farm and ranch for 43 years.

When Dad was not working, he enjoyed fishing, hunting (always including extended family), reloading ammo, and participating in the Danvers Shooting Club. There were many cribbage games played with his Plum Creek neighbors, as well as horseshoes, which was one of his favorite past times with family and friends.

Gardening was a large part of ranch life and continued well into retirement. He loved having a large and abundant garden to share with others.

Family time was important to dad. Some favorite memories are midnight snowmobile rides, rounding up cattle on branding day via motorcycle, milking cows and night time checks on cattle. Dad could make doing chores fun.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. As a family, reunions and other family events were almost never missed as they were very meaningful to dad.

We will remember a father who was always nearby with his devotion and support; a dad who was strong, caring, guiding & watchful. He was humble and always kind. Most important, he was loved.

Dad is survived by his sister, Anna; sons, Mark (Lynette), Gary (Candi), Doran (Mary); grandchildren Nicole, Clarissa, Katie, Cody, and Julian; step-grandchildren, Kyra, Brooke, Brennan, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Annie and Leah; step-great-grandchildren, McKenna, Ava, Brady, Carter, and Norah; special friend, Nancy; summer son/nephew, Kevin; and many nieces and nephews who were all special to him, as well has his dog Rowdy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Victoria, wife Dorothy, and siblings Alice, Leo and Lucy.

Visitation will be held at the Creel Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 8th, 5-7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Creel Chapel on Wednesday, January 9th, at 1:00 p.m. Memorials can be made in Paul’s honor to a charity of your choice.
