Obituary for Edwin James "Jim" Ziesemer

Edwin James Ziesemer, better known as Jim, was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on February 24, 1935. The oldest son of Albert and Dorothy Ziesemer, Jim was raised on a farm near Deer Creek, Minnesota. He attended a country school through 6th grade, then attended and graduated from Deer Creek School in 1953.

In March, 1954 he joined the U.S. Navy. Jim retired from the Navy in March 1976 after serving 22 years. He is a veteran of 2 wars, Korean by definition and Vietnam. He retired as Master Chief Petty Officer and was an electronics technician. He was in many countries and served on 2 ships, the USS Des Moines CA134, heavy cruiser and the USS Ajax AR6 repair ship, as a fleet troubleshooter. After his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Denton from San Diego, California to be near his folks.

Jim married Lennis Campbell on October 7, 1995 and they lived in Denton. They had 23 wonderful years together and took many trips. They attended church every Sunday together, Lennis going with Jim to Our Savior Lutheran Church and Jim going with Lennis to the Methodist Church. Jim spent his final years walking five miles a day with his little Charlie dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Al and Owen; and little Charlie dog. He is survived by his wife Lennis, his nephews and nieces and children of his brothers; and Lennis’ 3 nieces and their children and grandchildren.

Jim was a good Christian man and went to Heaven to be with his Lord on Dec 17, 2018 at the age 83.

Jim was cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denton at 11:00 a.m. Private family burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Denton followed by a luncheon at the Town Hall.

Memorials can be made to the Denton Ambulance or of your own choice.
