Obituary for Charles "Chuck" Franzen

God saw that it was time and so he took our beloved Chuck to be with Him on April 15, 2019.

Chuck was born to George and Cora Franzen on September 3rd, 1931 in Dickinson, ND. He was #13 of 13 children. He and his brother, Gene, #12 and his best friend, worked at many jobs growing up to put some jingle in their pockets.

He joined the Air Force and when discharged, went to work as an over the road truck driver which seemed to be his calling.

In 1957, he met and married Helen Bailey and with that union he acquired two daughters, Helen Rose “Penny” and Debbie Hust. His last move was to Lewistown, where he bought Jewells Café, which became the Chuckwagon. Helen being an excellent cook became the cook and baker. Chuck continued driving, but now it was a yellow school bus for his very special kids, who he loved and they loved him back. In 2000, Helen became sick and passed away.

Chuck and Pat Tresch were friends and eventually married and from that marriage Chuck again gained six more bonus kids. Chuck moved to the ranch on Beaver Creek where they lived until his passing.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener; especially tomatoes. His dog, Brandy, got her share.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Penny (Andy) Jacobson and Debbie (Albert) Hust; niece, Karen Franzen; nephew, Doug Franzen; grandchildren, Eric Follmer, Jody (Nathan) Gaines, Jennifer (Micah) Jam, Curt (Amy) Hust, and Troy (Karissa) Hust; step-children, Diana Lynn Patterson, Cathy (Randy) Olson, Nellie Ann Tresch, Lori (Justin) Guyer, Jeanne Pashak and Roger (Lori Mae) Tresch; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; 12 siblings; and his coffee-drinking friends.

All of our love goes with you; rest in peace.

Memorial Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 11:30 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019. Casual wear is very welcome, he loved his Wranglers.
